Ingredients:
• 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced or cut into bite-sized chunks
• 1 cup uncooked white rice
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon paprika
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
• ½ cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
Instructions:
1. Brown the Sausage
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the sausage pieces and cook until nicely browned and caramelized on all sides.
Take them out of the pan and set aside.
2. Toast the Rice & Spices
In the same pan, add the uncooked rice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Stir constantly for 1–2 minutes to lightly toast the rice and bring out the flavors of the spices.
3. Add Broth & BBQ Sauce
Pour in the broth and BBQ sauce. Mix well to combine everything.
Let it come to a light boil.
4. Simmer Until Done
Turn the heat down to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 18–20 minutes — or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
5. Finish & Serve
Return the sausage to the pan and stir everything together.
Let it sit off the heat for a couple of minutes so the flavors blend nicely.
