Ingredients:
Cabbage leaves (about 10-12 large leaves)
1 pound ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey—your favorite)
1 cup cooked rice
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs like dill or parsley
Directions:
1. Go ahead and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Carefully add the cabbage leaves and let them blanch for about 2-3 minutes, just until they’re soft and flexible. Drain them and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and your choice of fresh herbs.
4. Lay out each cabbage leaf, and spoon a generous portion of the meat mixture into the center. Roll it up tightly, folding the sides in as you go, so everything’s snuggly tucked inside.
5. Arrange your cabbage rolls seam-side down in a baking dish, packing them close together.
6. Pour tomato sauce evenly over the rolls, making sure they’re well covered.
7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
8. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and let the rolls bake for another 15 minutes to develop a bit of color.
9. Take them out of the oven, let them cool for a minute, and serve the rolls hot. Enjoy every comforting bite!
