Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

Ingredients:

 1 pound ground beef
 1 small onion, finely chopped
 1 egg
 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
 Salt and pepper to taste
 2 tablespoons olive oil
 2 cups beef broth
 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
 Fresh parsley for garnish

 Directions:

 1. Start by combining the ground beef, finely chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Use your hands or a spoon to blend everything together until well mixed. Shape the mixture into patties—the size is up to you, just make sure they hold together nicely.
 2. Heat up the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and let them cook for about 5 to 7 minutes on each side. You want them beautifully browned and fully cooked through. Once they’re ready, take them out and set them aside for a bit.
 3. Using the same skillet (those flavorful bits left behind add so much richness), toss in the sliced onions and sauté them until golden and softened.
 4. Slowly pour in the beef broth and add the Worcestershire sauce, stirring well to combine and lift up any browned bits from the pan.
 5. If a thicker, more luxurious gravy is your style, mix the cornstarch with a splash of cold water, then stir it into the skillet. Keep stirring until your gravy reaches your preferred thickness.
 6. Gently add your hamburger steaks back to the pan, nestling them into the onion gravy. Spoon a bit of the sauce over the top, and let them simmer together for a few more minutes, just to soak up all those comforting flavors.
 7. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley, then serve everything up hot. Enjoy this cozy classic that always feels like home.
